Sync settings

A few org-wide settings control how the sync behaves. The defaults suit most companies, so change only what you need. You'll find them all in Connection wizard step 8, with help text on each one.

Changes take effect on the next sync. You don't need to deploy or restart anything. Every field is listed in the settings reference.

NetSuite keeps its own account settings, such as subsidiary, currency and GL accounts, on the Continuous Revenue Settings record. You set those up in NetSuite manual setup, and wizard step 9 checks them.

Decide whether NetSuite plans revenue

Leave Continuous Revenue Engine on, unless another system recognizes revenue for these contracts.

After every booking, order line sync, invoice or credit memo sync, NetSuite updates the contract's POBs. Booked and Billed amounts then flow back to the Salesforce Contract. That always happens.

NetSuite has its own switch, Disable Continuous Revenue Engine. If either side is off, the engine is off. When NetSuite's switch is off, the wizard shows a hint under this one.

With the engine off, the Update Revenue Plans and Recognize Revenue buttons disappear in NetSuite. The Revenue Summary card on the Contract says the engine is off.

A sync never recognizes revenue by itself, whichever way the switch is set. See One engine, two switches.

Create native Sales Orders in NetSuite

Turn on Create Native Sales Order if you need item fulfillment or billing in NetSuite. NetSuite then keeps one native Sales Order for each booked contract, alongside the RC records. It needs no NetSuite revenue feature.

You can also create one for a single contract. Open the RC Contract in NetSuite and click Create Sales Order.

NetSuite has a matching Disable Native Sales Orders switch. When it's checked, bookings don't create a Sales Order, and the wizard shows a hint.

Decide who bills the Sales Orders

Allow NetSuite billing is off by default. Salesforce keeps billing, and NetSuite marks each Sales Order Do Not Bill (Continuous). That stops the same order being billed twice.

Turn it on to let NetSuite bill the Sales Orders instead.

Get told when a sync fails

Turn on Notify on sync failure to get an alert when a sync fails. The person who started the sync gets a Salesforce notification.

To also send an email, enter an address in Failure notify email. A shared team inbox works well.

Clean up old sync runs

Each sync run keeps a full copy of what was sent and received, which takes space.

  1. Set Run retention days. Leave it blank to keep runs forever.
  2. Click Schedule nightly purge.

Each night, the purge deletes finished runs older than that. This includes Completed, Completed with warnings and Failed runs. To purge right away, click Purge now.

Tune the invoice batch size

Invoice batch syncs send invoices in groups. Invoice chunk size sets how many go in each group. The default is 100, and the maximum is 200.

Lower it only if your invoices have a very large number of lines.
