Prerequisites
Gather everything on this page before you install. Continuous Control has a Salesforce part and a NetSuite part, and each needs a few things in place. Once you have them, the install is quick.
Check your Salesforce org
- Revenue Cloud with Billing turned on. The package adds fields to invoices, billing schedules, credit memos, payments and other Revenue Cloud objects. If those objects aren't in your org, the install fails.
- A System Administrator. You need one to install the package, assign permission sets and run the Connection wizard.
- Order types, if you use them. We recommend the values Net New, Amendment and Renewal on the order's Type field. If Type is blank, Continuous Control works out New or Amendment for you.
Turn on NetSuite features
In NetSuite, go to Setup > Company > Enable Features. Turn on these features once:
| Tab | Features |
|---|---|
| SuiteCloud | Custom Records · Client SuiteScript · Server SuiteScript · SuiteCloud Development Framework · Token-Based Authentication · REST Web Services · OAuth 2.0 |
| Accounting | Accounting · A/R · Sales Orders. You don't need Advanced Billing or a NetSuite revenue feature. |
| Company | Subsidiaries and Multiple Currencies, both required. Departments, Classes and Locations if your account uses them. |
Continuous Control needs OneWorld (Subsidiaries) and Multiple Currencies. Every record it syncs needs a subsidiary and a currency.
You also need Administrator access to NetSuite. The installer runs on a computer with Node.js 18 or later.
Point each Salesforce org at the right NetSuite account
One NetSuite account can take syncs from more than one Salesforce org. Each org runs its own Connection wizard.
Never connect a sandbox and its production org to the same NetSuite account. Both orgs hold the same customers and orders, so their syncs would overwrite each other.
Each org creates its own NetSuite customer, even for the same account. Every record it writes is stamped with a Source Org field. That tells you which Salesforce org created the record.
Line up the right people
| Person | Access | What they do |
|---|---|---|
| Salesforce admin | System Administrator | Install the package, assign permission sets, run the Connection wizard, place the cards |
| NetSuite admin | Administrator, or a role that can deploy SDF projects | Turn on features, run the installer, create the integration record and token |
| Finance lead | A NetSuite user who can see the Continuous Control records | Review performance obligations and recognize revenue at close |
