Demo the recognition methods
Show how Continuous Control earns revenue across the QuantumBit Complete Solution. QuantumBit sells to three customers. Kingsbridge Digital shows Straight-Line, an amendment, Delivery, % Complete and token overage on one contract. Coralbay Technologies shows a three-year ramp earned evenly. Northlight Systems shows an included allowance with overage billed and earned as it's invoiced.
Follow the same path for every customer
Each deal goes quote, contract, order. Create the contract from the quote with New Contract, so it carries the quote's prices and shows its Source Quote, term and renewal terms. Activate the contract. Then create the order from the quote and activate it. The order and its assets link to the contract. Open the customer's Billing tab at any point to see its invoices and payments together.
The dates below are from the reference run in October 2026. The story moves with the calendar: run it in December and the contracts start in August, the usage lands in August, and the invoices run August through November. The amounts stay the same for whole months.
Demo 1: four methods on one contract
QuantumBit sells Kingsbridge Digital its platform, training and a services project, all in the QuantumBit Complete Solution. Each piece earns revenue a different way.
- Quote, contract, order. Quote the QuantumBit Complete Solution for one year from June 1. Include API Management, 250 API Access Requests billed monthly, 3 Additional API, Essentials Training, the Scope of Work and the QuantumBit Database (Token Based). Remove the Professional Services Daily Rate that the configurator adds. Create the contract from the quote, activate it, then create and activate the order. The Scope of Work and the training are child lines inside the bundle.
- Record usage and book. Right after activation, record June's token usage on the database: 12,000 tokens against a 10,000 token allowance. Then on the Order, click Book Order to NetSuite. Open the RC Contract in NetSuite. Each product has its own POB with its own rule. Nothing is recognized yet, because nothing has been delivered or earned.
- Amend it. Today, Kingsbridge adds 2 Additional API and buys a Tokens Pack for its database. Amend the bundle from the contract's assets, activate the amendment order and book it. Only the changes go over. The API POB grows by the prorated amount, and the Tokens Pack gets its own POB.
- Deliver the training. On the Essentials Training order product, check Delivered and set the date to July 15. On the Order, click Sync Order Lines. The training POB moves to July 15 and will recognize all of it in July.
- Report progress. Set the Scope of Work's % Complete to 40 and click Sync Order Lines. In NetSuite, click Recognize Revenue on the RC Contract. 40% of the project is earned. Later, set 75, sync, and recognize again. Only the new 35% is added.
- Invoice and collect. Run billing for June through September and sync each invoice. The first invoice carries the year's subscriptions, the project, the training and the June token overage: 2,000 tokens over the allowance at $0.50, so $1,000. Record the first payment, apply it and sync it. Each POB's Billed rolls up, the token POB shows $1,000 booked and billed, and the Billing tab shows the invoice Paid In Full.
- Close the month. Click Recognize Revenue through the current month. The project's catch-up is dated the month you run it. Open the Contract in Salesforce. The Revenue Summary card in the right sidebar matches NetSuite for every POB.
With an amendment on October 1, Kingsbridge recognizes $57,956.17 through October and defers $56,793.15. An amendment on another day moves the Additional API numbers a little.
| Rule | Kingsbridge example | Recognized through October |
|---|---|---|
| Straight-Line | API Management, $12,000 a year | $5,000, one twelfth a month |
| Straight-Line, amended | Additional API, 3 then 5 | $13,456.17, with the added units earning from October |
| Delivery | Essentials Training, $8,500 | $8,500, all in July |
| % Complete | Scope of Work, $25,000 at 75% | $18,750 |
| Event-Based | June token overage, $1,000 | $1,000, when it's invoiced |
Demo 2: a three-year ramp
Coralbay Technologies signs for three years and grows its API use each year: 10, then 15, then 20 units. Finance wants the same revenue every month, not a staircase.
- Quote the ramp. Quote the QuantumBit Complete Solution for 36 months from June 1, with Additional API as its own line. On the Additional API line, click Ramp with yearly segments. Set the quantities to 10, 15 and 20. A product inside a bundle can't be ramped, which is why Additional API sits outside it. If the org refuses to create the ramp, add the three yearly Additional API lines by hand with the same quantities and dates; NetSuite treats them the same way.
- Contract, order and book. Create the contract from the quote, then the order, activate both, and book the order.
- Show Even Spread. In NetSuite, the Additional API POB has Even Spread (Full Term) checked on its own. The segments bill $150,000, $225,000 and $300,000, and revenue is flat at $18,750 a month.
- Invoice and collect. Run billing for June 1 and sync the invoice: year one in advance, $178,500. Record the payment, apply it and sync it.
- Recognize. Click Recognize Revenue through October. The API POB shows $93,750, five months at $18,750. Without Even Spread it would show $62,500.
Demo 3: an allowance and overage
Northlight Systems buys the same platform with the standard QuantumBit Database: 10 TB of storage a month is included, and anything over that bills at the rate card. This is the usage story most customers recognize.
- Quote, contract, order. Quote the QuantumBit Complete Solution for one year from August 1 with API Management, 100 API Access Requests billed monthly, 2 Additional API and the QuantumBit Database. Create the contract from the quote, then the order, and activate both.
- Record usage and book. In August, Northlight stores 50 TB and uses 5,000 minutes of compute. Record both on the database asset and orchestrate. Open the account's Usage tab. 10 TB came out of the allowance. The 40 TB of overage rated at $15 a TB, $600. The 5,000 minutes rated at $0.005, $25. Book the order.
- Invoice and collect. Run billing for August 1, September 1 and October 1 and sync each. The September invoice carries the overage lines, $600 and $25. Each gets its own Event-Based POB, booked and billed at the invoice amount. Record and sync the first payment.
- Recognize. Click Recognize Revenue through the current month. The usage POBs earn their amounts in the month they were invoiced, and the subscriptions earn month by month.
